Whatever Your Business, Printing Deserves Some Attention

Topics: Business printing, stationery, commercial printing, printing service

It’s easy to neglect small details when things are going well. This applies to most things in life but in particular it is often the case in the world of business. When times are good and orders are coming in it can seem that everything is being done as well as it can be and there is no need to change anything. This attitude couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s when things are going well that small problems or issues should be looked at.

During periods of success and growth there is an opportunity to fix things that are not working and to improve things that are without it looking and feeling like a panic measure or knee jerk reaction. When things are not going too well and a business looks at ways to improve it is often too little too late and does no good, sometimes even having the opposite effect.

There are many areas that can be looked at, telephone systems, outdated machinery, transport, suppliers; all are areas that need to be constantly monitored with a view to saving money and becoming more efficient. Another simpler, but no less effective, area that could be looked at is that of business printing. Sometimes the state of your stationery can speak volumes!

It is often the case that the first impression a potential customer or client gets of you is through a letter or flyer or some other form of promotional material. With this in mind the role of business printing in any company that wishes to be a success should be high on the agenda, if it isn’t you could be giving the wrong impression to hundreds or thousands of potential customers and missing out on a very lucrative market.

Business printing needs to be thought out in the same way that proposals, reports and campaigns are. Giving it the care and attention it deserves can only benefit a business. Any printing that you undertake will convey a message so it’s vital that you are in complete control of that message. Anything printed can appear humorous, serious, happy or sad. It can also express the ambition of a company or the standing they have in their field. These are all things that can be controlled and manipulated to get the desired effect.

Business printing encompasses everything from small business cards to large promotional posters and displays. The first thing to make sure of is that all those different areas follow a theme or pattern and can be related to each other. This is done through careful choice and placement of colour, type and images.

Colour is perhaps the most important consideration. The brain whether you are aware of it or not recognises colour first, above everything else. It then creates an emotional response based on the colours it has been shown. With this in mind it is important to use colour appropriately. Red is eye-catching but can also mean danger, if your business supplies extreme sports gear that might be appropriate but if you sell light bulbs it might not.

Every colour communicates a different emotional response; blue is calm, yellow is exciting and green is comforting. Making the correct decision when dealing with business printing will help a client get an idea of your business before they’ve even met you or read about you.

The second major consideration in business printing, and one that is often overlooked, is the use of fonts and the way text is displayed. A business in the field of rock music might want to use brash, bold fonts to convey excitement and energy while an insurance company will use something that is clear and straightforward so as to be read easily.

Whatever your business printing needs it is worth considering how you wish to be perceived before making any decision that will be expensive and time consuming to correct.
